Bengal Pro T20 League 2025: Big Names To Watch Out For

Here are the top two players from each of the eight teams to look out for

The Bengal Pro T20 League began its 2025 season on June 11 with eight teams fighting for the coveted trophy, which was shared by Sobisco Smashers Malda and Murshidabad Kings as the final was washed out.

Like last season, this season will also feature big names who have either played for India or some IPL team or at least the Bengal state team.

Here are the top two players from each of the eight teams to look out for.

Bengal Pro T20 League Players Who Will Be Watched By IPL Scouts

Rashmi Medinipur Wizards

Sudip Chatterjee

Having played 82 First-Class games and with over 5000 runs in the red-ball format, Sudip Chatterjee needs no introduction to Bengal cricket. But his T20 numbers are not very exciting, with just 676 runs in 40 matches at a lowly average of 21. But he has five fifties to his credit, meaning that if he gets set, he will score.

Vivek Singh

Starting with Bengal, Vivek Singh moved to the Railways soon and is now an established opener. He has 1605 runs in 69 T20s at an impressive average of 27.67 and a strike rate of 132. He is the run machine that Mednipore will be banking on.

Shrachi Rarh Tigers

Mohammad Shami

He played for India and won the Champions Trophy, but a bad IPL 2025, and instead of being in England, Mohammed Shami is now in Bengal, and that means that the league will have more attraction than before. With the experience of 176 T20s, mostly at the highest levels, like IPL and international cricket, Shami will be the biggest player to watch out for.

Shahbaz Ahamad

Next to Shami is Shahbaz Ahmad, who is also on the same side as the Rarh Tigers, a team that represents the area of Bengal between the Jharkhand border and Kolkata metropolitan regions. Shahbaz Ahamad is another international star, having played two T20Is and three ODIs for India. He is a regular in the IPL, playing 58 matches for three teams between 2020 and 2025.

Servotech Siliguri Strikers

Akash Deep

Another India representative and IPL regular is Akash Deep. Akash Deep, born in Bihar’s Sasaram, has played seven Tests for the country, having made his debut in 2024. The 28-year-old, apart from being a genuine fast bowler, is also a more than decent enough batter, with a First-Class average of almost 12 and a fifty to his name.

Anustup Majumdar

A Bengal cricket legend, Anustup Majumdar, is one of the few cricketers who is said to have been born in the wrong era, as otherwise, he would surely have played for India at least once. The 41-year-old has an average of 42 in both First-Class and List A cricket. He even played four matches for Pune Warriors India at his peak in the IPL.

Sobisco Smashers Malda

Mukesh Kumar

Another cricketer from Bengal, who was born in Bihar, was raised in Bengal and played for them. Mukesh Kumar has returned fresh from India A tour of England. He has been a regular for the national team, having featured in all three formats, playing three Tests, six ODIs and 17 T20Is.

Ishan Porel

Ishan Porel, another tall fast bowler, promised a lot, but has not been able to deliver. However, he has experience of 46 First-Class matches, playing for India U-19 and Punjab Kings in the IPL as well.

Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers

Abishek Porel

Retained by the Delhi Capitals, Abhishek Porel is a dynamite left-handed batter who is looking to make inroads into the Indian team. But he had an average season recently and might want to use the Bengal T20 as a way to enhance his reputation. He has so far played 50 T20s, 31 of which have come for the Capitals.

Karan Lal

Karan Lal impressed one and all during SMAT 2024-25, where he finished as the leading run-scorer for the state with 338 runs in nine innings at an average of 42 and a strike rate of more than 160. He was also more than useful with his right-arm off-break, picking six wickets in the competition.

Harbour Diamonds

Manoj Tiwary

Another star Bengal cricketer, who could have ended up playing a lot more international matches than he eventually did. Tiwary, at 39, has experience of 148 First-Class matches, 15 international matches and 98 IPL games and also appears on TV occasionally as a cricket expert. He is a Member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Shubpur Constituency in Howrah District.

Debabrata Das

Another one nearing his 40s, Diamond Harbours, seems to be the Chennai Super Kings of the Bengal Pro T20, as they have legends who are almost entering their 40s. The 38-year-old Debabrat Das has experience of 31 IPL matches for Kolkata Knight Riders, becoming a champion with them in the 2012 season.

Adamas Howrah Warriors

Arindam Ghosh

Arindam Ghosh is another Bengal legend who moved to the Railways after tasting success with the Bengal team. But more than his presence with the bat, Ghosh’s experience will count, although he last played an official T20 in

Kanishk Seth

Seth, a pace bowler who finished as the second-highest wicket-taker behind Sayan Ghosh in SMAT 2024-25, is an up-and-coming bowler who will improve the Howrah Warriors with his presence.

Murshidabad Kings

Sudip Gharami

Sudip Gharami is the captain of the Bengal white-ball setup, and he took the team to the quarterfinals last season. He also led his side, the Mushidabad Kings, to the final of the Bengal T20 2024 season. This time around too, the team will be expecting nothing less from him.

Saksham Chaudhary

Like Kanishk Seth, Saksham Chaudhary is also an up-and-coming bowler, and he finished third in the Bengal T20 2024 season. As a result, he found himself in the Bengal state team and played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well as the SMAT 2024-25.
