The Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) has already produced legit IPL stars Aniket Verma and Kumar Kartikya Singh in its infancy. With its second season beginning June 12 at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium, Gwalior, all eyes, especially those of the Indian Premier League (IPL) scouts, will be set on a few players.
Here are the top three contenders who will be watched eagerly by IPL scouts during MPL 2025.
Harsh Gawli, who was the third-highest run-getter in the MP League 2024, with 198 runs in six innings, got his chance to play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last season and utilised it well to score a fifty and average 26 while striking at more than 130.
He is one of the few players from MP, who, even after doing well and getting into the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024-25 final, failed to get picked in the IPL auction. This season, the man with three First-Class hundreds to his name, will look to make an even bigger impact to not only retain his place in MP’s white-ball teams, but also to get into the eye of the IPL scouts.
Shivam Shukla, the leading wicket-taker of the MP League 2024, was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2025 as a replacement for Rovman Powell. Kumar Kartikeya Singh, leading wicket taker for MP in SMAT 2024-25, was picked by the Rajasthan Royals at the IPL 2025 auction.
Tripuresh Singh, who finished in second spot in both cases, failed to get a bid or make it to the league as a replacement player. But the 23-year-old will be going at it once again.
With 11 wickets in eight games at SMAT 2024-25 and nine wickets in five games in the MP League, the pacer will be eyeing nothing less than a top finish on the wicket-takers list and get a call from some IPL team or another for the pre-season camp.
Arpit Gaud, a 28-year-old batter who has been part of the state team as well as the U-19 team, shone through the last season of the MP League to grab his chance and get into the state team. With 151 runs in what could be called a lean SMAT appearance for him, he would be looking at the MP League as an opportunity to strengthen his chances of getting noticed by the IPL scouts.
