The Bengal Pro T20 2025 is here, and it gets off the mark on June 11 at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The league will see big names like Mohammed Shami, Shahbaz Ahmed, and even Monoj Tiwary play alongside emerging talents like Ishan Porel.
However, those are players that have already been picked in the Indian Premier League (IPL) or are too old to get noticed. The scouts of all the 10 IPL teams, however, will be keeping their eyes on the following three players, having seen their growth already in the previous edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT).
The son of former India and Bengal cricketer and famous commentator, Arun Lal, Karan Lal impressed one and all during SMAT 2024-25, where he finished as the leading run-scorer for the state with 338 runs in nine innings at an average of 42 and a strike rate of more than 160.
He had a best score of 92 and was also more than useful with his right-arm off-break, picking six wickets in the competition. A player with two useful skills and the age by his side at just 24, Lal will have close eyes on him from all quarters. He will be part of the Kolkata Tigers.
Sayan Ghosh, a 32-year-old pacer from Bengal, who will also be part of the Kolkata Tigers, was the leading wicket-taker for the state in SMAT 2024-25. Ghosh, who has previously been part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals set-up, is making a comeback of sorts into mainstream cricket.
He did more than well enough to get noticed by picking 13 wickets in just seven games at SMAT 2024-25. More than the wickets, it was his under seven economy and a strike rate of 12.46 that will make the IPL scouts keep a tab on his numbers.
Sudip Kumar Gharami has been in the reckoning for quite some time now, having even got the opportunity to lead the side in the SMAT 2024-25. Gharami, a 26-year-old from North 24 Parganas, scored only 179 runs in SMAT, but has great potential, with five First-Class hundreds in his kitty.
In the last season of the Pro T20 league, Gharami was amongst the top six run-getters.
