IPL 2025 And T20 Mumbai League 2025 - Shreyas Iyer Loses Two Finals In Space Of Nine Days

Iyer, who scored over 600 runs in the IPL, couldn’t replicate that form in the T20 Mumbai League, managing just 62 runs in five innings

Just nine days after losing the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Shreyas Iyer has suffered another heartbreak — this time in the final of the T20 Mumbai League 2025.

Under his captaincy, Punjab Kings (PBKS) finished top of the IPL 2025 points table but lost the final to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Now, leading SoBo Mumbai Falcons, Iyer has once again fallen short in a title clash.

On June 12 (Thursday), his Falcons side lost to Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals in the T20 Mumbai League final at the Wankhede Stadium.

Iyer, who scored over 600 runs in the IPL, couldn’t replicate that form in the T20 Mumbai League, managing just 62 runs in five innings at an average of 12.4 and a strike rate of 96.9.

In the final, Iyer scored 12 off 17 as the Falcons posted 157/4 in their 20 overs, with Mayuresh Tandel (50* off 32) and Harsh Aghav (45* off 28) being the major contributors.

In the second innings, Chinmay Rajesh Sutar (53 off 49) played the anchor, while Awais Khan Naushad (38 off 24) took the attack to Iyer and his men.

It was eventually Rohan Raje (8* off 3) who finished the game for the Royals, making them the winners of the T20 Mumbai League 2025.
