Ravichandran Ashwin had a season to forget in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He looked to redeem himself in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2025, where he is leading Dindigul Dragons. However, in the two matches so far, he has picked up just two wickets and has also managed just 33 runs opening the innings.
In the match against Tiruppur Tamizhans, Ashwin was adjudged leg-before by Sai Kishore in just the fifth over. Umpire V Krithika adjudged that out, but replays suggested that the ball may have pitched outside the leg stump. However, Ashwin's side had no reviews left at that point as they had exhausted them on reviewing a couple of wides.
Ashwin was furious with the decision and made his voice heard, but the umpire was having none of that. An enraged Ashwin had to walk back to the pavilion after scoring just 18 off 11 deliveries, as his side was bowled out for just 93.
This was the Dragons' first loss of the tournament. They started the tournament off with a seven-wicket victory over the Kovai Kings. They will look to get back to winning ways when they take on the Madurai Panthers on June 14 (Saturday).
