The Women’s Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on May 15 (Thursday) named 15-women T20I and ODI squads for the multi-format tour of England.
The biggest news from the announcement was Shafali Verma's inclusion in the T20I squad. The 21-year-old made a comeback to the national team after enduring tough times since being dropped in October 2024.
Apart from her, N Shree Charani, Kranti Goud, Shuchi Upadhyay and Sayali Satghare received their maiden T20I call-ups for India as well. While Shree Charani, Goud and Upadhyay had been part of the Indian team in the Sri Lanka Tri-Series (ODIs), Satgahare was not.
The Mumbai pacer had, however, made her India debut earlier against Ireland, ahead of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025.
Shafali was the leading run-scorer in the Senior Women's One-Day Trophy, Senior Women’s Challenger Trophy, and fourth-highest scorer in WPL 2025.
Sneh Rana, who last played a T20I in February 2023, has also made a comeback to the national team following her Player of the Series performance in the Sri Lanka tri-series where she picked up 15 wickets in five games.
Rana, 31, also played one of the most entertaining knocks in the WPL 2025, hitting Deepti Sharma for 26 runs in six balls alongside picking up two three-wicket hauls in her five outings for RCB, after being named as Shreyanka Patil’s replacement.
The England tour for India Women, which will consist of five T20Is and three ODIs, will begin with the first T20I on June 28 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham and end with the third ODI on July 22 at Riverside Ground, Chester-Le-Street.
