
Afghanistan duo Rashid Khan and Azmatullah Omarzai will miss the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 for MI New York to take a bit of a break from cricket, ESPNcricinfo reported on June 11 (Wednesday). The MLC 2025 is set to get underway on June 13 (Friday).
Legspinner Rashid was MI’s leading wicket-taker in the last edition of the MLC, claiming 10 wickets at an economy of 6.15. Rashid recently featured for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2025, where he picked up nine wickets at a terrible average of 57.11 and an economy of 9.34.
Meanwhile, Omarzai played for the runners-up Punjab Kings (PBKS). The fast-bowling all-rounder scored 57 runs in five innings at an average of 14.25 and a strike rate of 139.02. He also picked up eight wickets at an economy of 10.33.
Afghanistan seamer Naveen-ul-Haq, however, has joined the New York set-up. MI will be captained by Nicholas Pooran and will commence their season against Texas Super Kings at Oakland Coliseum in California on June 14.
