Mehidy Hasan Achieves Rare All-Round Feat Not Managed By Ben Stokes & Kapil Dev
Mehidy became the first Bangladeshi in 11 years, and just the third from his country to take a fifer and score a century in the same Test
On April 30 (Wednesday) in Chattogram, Bangladesh wrapped up a dominant showing against Zimbabwe in the second Test of the two-Test series, registering an innings & 106 runs victory to end the series 1-1. The Tigers were bowled to victory by none other than Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who picked the 13th five-wicket haul of his Test career by registering figures of 5/32 in Zimbabwe’s second innings.
By doing so, Mehidy scripted history as he became the first Bangladeshi in 11 years, and just the third Bangladesh player ever, to take a fifer and score a century in the same Test. The rare double was last achieved by Shakib Al Hasan in 2014, and it was also incidentally against Zimbabwe. Off-spinner Sohag Gazi was the only Bangladeshi apart from Shakib to achieve the feat.

It’s a feat achieved only 39 times in Test cricket overall and a pretty rare all-round feat, as the likes of Ben Stokes and Kapil Dev have never managed it.
However, four players managed the double in 2024 in Tests: Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Gus Atkinson, and Brian Bennett. Mehidy, in the same Test, also completed the double of 200 Test wickets + 2,000 Test runs. Shakib is the only other Bangladesh player to have done this special double.
