Considered to be one of the best bowlers in T20 cricket, Rashid Khan sunk to an all-time low in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as he now holds the unwanted record of conceding most sixes in an IPL season. He became holder of the unfortunate record during his side Gujarat Titans' match against Mumbai Indians (MI). GT) leg-spinner has conceded 33 sixes this season, two more than Mohammed Siraj in IPL 2022.
This has been Rashid's worst IPL season so far, having picked up just nine wickets. Moreover, his economy rate (9.3), average (57.1,) and strike rate (36.7) are also his worst in an IPL season.
He was not at his best even last season, where he picked up 10 wickets at 37.7 at an economy rate of 8.4. He has gone wicketless in eight of the 15 matches this season, surpassing the five times he could not pick up a wicket in 2018 and 2022. Against MI, he finished with figures of 0/31 from his four overs. He kept the runs down, but could not make any inroads.
Rashid is the highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket, having picked up 643 scalps. Only Dwayne Bravo has more than 600 wickets in the format.
