Prithvi Shaw, who last played for India in 2021 and went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, roared back to form with a blistering 75 off just 34 deliveries against Suryakumar Yadav’s Triumphs Knights MNE in the T20 Mumbai 2025 on June 8 (Sunday).
Once hailed as the next big thing in Indian cricket, Shaw has since drifted off the radar due to recurring fitness issues, disciplinary concerns, and a dip in form.
The skipper of North Mumbai Panthers, Shaw, had a quiet start to the tournament with scores of 5, 5, 33, and 19. But against India’s T20I captain Suryakumar’s side in Navi Mumbai, the aggressive opener finally found his groove.
After crawling to just four runs off his first eight deliveries, Shaw exploded in the fourth over, smashing Parth Naik for a six, followed by three consecutive fours. That seemed to awaken the beast, as he took apart Minad Manjrekar in the very next over, plundering 26 runs with a sequence of 4, 4, 6, 4, 4, 4.
In total, Shaw struck 12 fours and three sixes before being dismissed by Suryansh Shedge in the 10th over.
