India A Spinner Makes Shocking Switch To Andhra Pradesh
The left-arm spinner is set to represent Andhra Pradesh in the upcoming domestic season
Indian A spinner Saurabh Kumar has decided to make the switch to Andhra Pradesh, on June 9 (Monday), ahead of the new domestic season. The left-arm spinner, according to Cricbuzz, has got the stamp of approval from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) to move to Andhra.
The 32-year-old was part of India’s squad last year during the five-match Test series against England but remained an unused substitute. Saurabh has been a prolific wicket-taker in the domestic circuit, with 324 wickets for Uttar Pradesh and India A, averaging 26.45, in 79 first-class games.
"I am excited to play for Andhra. I am looking forward to the coming season. I hope to guide Andhra to the title at least in format and to the final of the Ranji Trophy," Saurabh told Cricbuzz.
It is a move that is most likely to uplift the fortunes of the Andhra side, who had a tumultuous last season in the red-ball format. The left-arm spinner has barely played any red-ball cricket this year, with just three wickets, but was at his sizzling best in the previous year, with 43 wickets.
