ICC Champions Trophy 2025: 3 visiting players who can do well in Pakistan
Here are three players who have delivered in Pakistan before and can do well in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025
Pakistan is all set to host its first ICC Tournament in 28 years. It will be the home for the 2025 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy, which will begin on February 19th, 2025. Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi will host 10 of the 15 games in the tournament. The three India matches and the first Semi-Final will be held in Dubai. The Final will be held in either Lahore or Dubai.
Barring team India, the other six visiting teams will play their games in Pakistan. All group B matches will be held in Pakistan. So, here are three visiting players who have had good numbers in Pakistan and can be expected to continue their good form in the upcoming tournament.
Daryl Mitchell
In Pakistan: 7 inns, 369 runs, 52.71 average, 91 SR, 2 centuries
Daryl Mitchell has been terrific in Asian conditions as the Kiwi all-rounder showcased excellent batting performances in the 2023 ICC World Cup, which was held in India.
He has produced a similar performance in Pakistan, scoring 369 runs in seven innings at an average of 52.71, including two centuries, which he scored in Rawalpindi in 2023.
With New Zealand playing Pakistan in Karachi and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, we can expect Mitchell to play a big role in New Zealand’s batting in these two games.
Adam Zampa
In Pakistan: 3 inns, 6 wickets, 26.5 average, 1 four-wicket haul
Adam Zampa has been one of the most successful non-Asian spinners in Asia. He has taken 50 of his 180 ODI wickets in India, nine in Sri Lanka, seven in UAE and six in Pakistan.
During his tour to Pakistan in 2022, he picked up six wickets in three innings. He took 4/38 against Pakistan in Lahore in a winning cause.
He can be expected to perform well in the upcoming Champions Trophy, as Australia will play two games in Lahore against England and Afghanistan and one game in Rawalpindi against South Africa.
Matt Henry
In Pakistan: 5 inns, 8 wickets, 33.8 average, 5.7 economy
Matt Henry has been in great form in ODIs over the last two years, taking 34 wickets in 20 innings since 2023.
In the 2023 tour to Pakistan, he played all five ODIs and picked up eight wickets at an economy of 5.7 with two three-wicket hauls and going wicketless only once. Seven of his eight wickets were taken in Karachi across three ODIs.
He has taken most of his wickets against Pakistan, taking 28 wickets in 14 innings. He can be expected to do well against Pakistan in Karachi during the Champions Trophy game.
