5 key highlights that shaped India's stunning win over Pakistan

Missed the India-Pakistan low-scoring thriller? Don’t worry, we have got you covered

Another failure for Kohli

Virat Kohli was averaging 308 against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup before June 9 (Sunday). He was yet to be dismissed under 50 against the Men in Green.

Kohli, however, got out for just 4 off 3, hitting Naseem Shah’s short and wide delivery straight to the fielder at point. He now has just five runs in two games in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Pant’s not-so-flawless innings

Rishabh Pant crafted 42 off 31 deliveries but never looked comfortable in the middle. The wicketkeeper-batter had a false shot % of 48.3.

Nevertheless, Pant still ended the game as the highest scorer.

India’s terrible collapse

The Men in Blue were 89/3 at one stage but then lost seven wickets for just 30 runs. They were eventually bowled out for 119 in 19 overs.

This was only the third instance India were bowled out in the T20 World Cup. They registered their fourth-lowest total in this tournament.

Pakistan’s steady start…

They needed six runs per over and started their innings on a sedate note. Pakistan were 72/2 at the end of 12 overs, with Mohammad Rizwan (44-ball 31) still out there in the middle.

All they needed was 48 off 48 deliveries, with eight wickets to spare.

… Pakistan mess up

However, that’s when Pakistan did a Pakistan. Fakhar Zaman got out to Hardik Pandya, while Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan struggled to keep the scoreboard moving.

Pakistan needed 21 off 12 deliveries and eventually fell short by six runs. Jasprit Bumrah (3/14) and Pandya (2/24) were the star performers for India.
